NECO Announces 2024 SSCE External Results
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination External (SSCE). The announcement was made on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the NECO Headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
During the press briefing, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, provided insights into the conduct of the examination and the overall performance of candidates.
Highlights of the 2024 NECO SSCE External Results
The 2024 NECO SSCE External examination was conducted from November 14 to December 14, 2024, while marking was completed by January 24, 2025. The results were officially released 62 days after the last paper, demonstrating NECO’s efficiency in processing and publishing results.
Key Statistics:
• Total Registered Candidates: 86,067 (44,988 males, 41,079 females)
• Total Candidates Who Sat for the Exam: 84,799 (44,277 males, 40,522 females)
• Performance in English Language: 83,220 candidates sat for English, with 62,929 (75.62%) earning Credit and above.
• Performance in Mathematics: 83,024 candidates took Mathematics, and 77,988 (93.93%) obtained Credit and above.
• Overall Performance: 57,114 (67.35%) candidates secured five (5) Credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
• General Performance: 70,711 (83.39%) candidates obtained five (5) Credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
• Exam Malpractice Cases: 6,160 candidates were caught in malpractice (a 27.7% decrease from 2023).
• Supervisor Misconduct: Seven supervisors were blacklisted for aiding malpractice.
• Blacklisted Exam Centers: Fourteen centers (10 in Ogun and 4 in Oyo) were penalized for whole-center malpractice.
What is the NECO SSCE External Examination?
The NECO SSCE External is an examination for candidates who need a second chance to improve their academic records or complete their secondary education certification.
It is designed for those seeking university admission or who need to address deficiencies in their previous results. The exam covers 29 subjects, allowing candidates to demonstrate their academic strengths.

3. Enter your Examination Number and Token PIN.
4. Click the Check Result button.
